BYU Motorsports, also known as the Formula E team, has spent the last two years designing an electric race car to compete in FSAE competitions, and we are beginning construction this semester. This is BYU's first motorsports competition team since our previous team (competing with a hybrid vehicle) dissolved in 2011, and BYU's first electric FSAE race car.
I am an Electronics Engineer for this vehicle, and have been part of the team since its founding. I've compared and selected multiple sensors for use in the final vehicle, worked on custom PCB's for our data collection and dashboard sensors and displays, and designed enclosures to attach the electronics to the race vehicle. I'm currently helping to program and calibrate our sensors prior to our integration with the overall vehicle. I've learned a lot about PCB design and electronics systems, as well as programming sensors and calibration.
